Scranton Kids Fishing Day slated for June 7

Register by May 30

Plans are in the works for the third annual Scranton Kids Fishing Day. The event will be held Saturday, June 7, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Lost Lagoon. Rain date is June 8.

Children ages 3 to 17 are invited to participate. This is a free fishing weekend so parents or adults must attend with anyone under age 17.

Iowa Conservation representatives will discuss fishing laws and provide instruction. Extra fishing volunteers will be mentors to the youngsters. A limited number of fishing poles will be available for use that day thanks to Dan Towers and the Greene County conservation board.

Pre-registration is required to assist in planning. Permission forms must also be signed. The forms are available in Scranton at Peoples Trust & Savings Bank, at the Scranton public library, or at city hall. Forms must be signed and returned to one of those places by May 30.

Persons who would like more information can call Leesa Squibb at 712-652-3250 or Wendy Johnson at 712-652-3955.
